Anarchists on the MarchIn San Jose: A crowd estimated at between 200 and 300 persons was far smaller than predicted by “anarchist” Web sites and Police Chief Lynne Johnson, who had estimated up to 800 persons or more might gather.
Shortly before 7 p.m., a group of anarchists arrived with banners, and a masked speaker -- wearing a scarf covering his lower face and a black hooded sweatshirt -- made an impassioned speech against the Iraq war and evil effects of world corporate power. Most of those present then took to the streets, marching around downtown Palo Alto, under the Caltrain tracks and forming in the parking lot Bloomingdale's at the Stanford Shopping Center, later heading back into downtown.Lots of pictures here.
